Job Summary:
The APN participates in a collegial relationship with the physicians, nurses and other health care professionals,
Provides care to urology patients needing ongoing clinical supervision, surveillance, pre and post-operative care,
Works with Urologists to ensure all care is provided based on evidence-based medicine and established standards of care.
Job Requirements:
- Physician Assistant Certification or Nurse Practitioner Certification in New Jersey.
- Registration & Licensure by the New Jersey State Board.
- Basic Life Support (BLS);
- Advanced Life Support (ACLS)
- Surgical experience preferred
- Although not required, fluency in Spanish, and other languages is a plus.
Scheduling requirements:
- 4 10 hour days
Essential Functions:
- The APN is responsible for COLLABORATING WITH the Physician in the office, taking H&Ps, performing physical exams, and participating in flow of patients thru the practice.
- The APN will perform various urological office based procedures and assist with coordinating the complex care of the patient.
- See patients on the inpatient services based on needs of the division. Travel to offsite offices as requested.
- Demonstrates an ability to organize and achieve quality performance in new routine. Deliver care to patients guided by evidence based medicine.
- Demonstrates effectiveness in coordinating aspects of patient care to achieve the highest patient clinical outcome and patient satisfaction.
- Demonstrates strong organizational skills, communicates effectively. Organizes daily schedule and demonstrates time management.
- Effectively prioritizes work assignments and demonstrates effective communication skills.
- Fosters a professional and amicable relationship with all coworkers.
- Implements the policies and procedures of the practice. Performs assessment and reassessment of the patient according to applicable department standards and identified tools.
- Possesses good working knowledge of scheduling and procedure prioritization to minimize delays and ensure completion of daily work schedule
- Performs other duties as assigned by divisional leadership
- Recognizes areas for improvement in divisional policies or patient care; initiates change; educate all involved in change
- Regularly communicates with physicians, APN, and staff concerning patient care issues
- Thoroughly explains procedures to patients prior to testing
- Provides appropriate patient teaching as necessary
