Position Description:

This complement of extraordinary early-career scholars will play an active role in a vibrant scholarly community and fully participate in the life of their academic home at the college. Faculty Fellows teach two undergraduate courses (or their equivalent) relevant to their scholarly interests and experience, conduct research and scholarship in the candidate’s discipline, and receive mentoring and professional development support from the department/program, college, and university. departmental mentoring and College-wide professional development support. This is a two-year position beginning on July 1, 2025, with teaching responsibilities during the standard academic year from September through May.

The Department of Spanish and Latin American Cultures welcomes applications for a Barnard Faculty Fellow. Particular fields of interest include Afro-Latinx Studies and/or Latinx Studies, as well as the indigenous languages and cultures such as Nahual, Quechua (and Kichwa), and K’iche. Fellows would have the opportunity to network with other departments here at Barnard as well as with colleagues from across our field and subfields.

Terminal degree in a related discipline, with all requirements for the degree completed by the time of hiring offer.

• 2-3 page cover letter addressing research, teaching, and service/community engagement interests. • 1 representative publication or single writing sample preferably <30 pages  (e.g. journal article, book chapter, dissertation chapter);

Salary: $75,000

This salary for this position is fixed and non-negotiable. Barnard Early-Career Faculty Fellows are benefit-eligible and eligible to apply for $4,000 annual Faculty Research Grants.

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
