Barnes Lake Veterinary Center (BLVC) is a beautiful modern small animal practice that opened in September of 2022, and is located just 30 minutes from Pittsburgh, PA. BLVC is privately owned and is looking for 2 full-time experienced Veterinary Technicians or Veterinary Assistants that are eager to join a practice that cares about its team and promotes a work-life balance.
We provide a full range of services for our feline and canine patients and are open to adding more services. Currently, our warm and inviting facility includes a large waiting room/ reception area with a recessed dog scale, 4 comfortable exams rooms (3 with wall mounted folding tables, 1 room with a lift table, and 1 lift table in the treatment area), 1 large surgical suite, 1 dental suite with digital dental radiology, and a full digital radiology suite off of the open floor plan treatment area. In our lab area we have the newest in-house analyzers from Idexx. We also have a new ultrasound, Cardio Pet, an in-house pharmacy, and online pharmacy. We are a paper-light facility and use EzyVet veterinary software.

Qualifications / Education / Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required
- Registered Vet Tech (RVT) or Certified Vet Tech (CVT) preferred with at least 2 years of experience, but not required
- Veterinary Assistant (VA) with a minimum of 2 years of experience

Requirements:
- At least 18 years of age and is authorized to work in the United States
- Must communicate in a clear and positive manner with all team members and clients
- Must be a team player and willing to assist all team members
- Genuinely enjoys working with animals and people
- Remains calm when patients are stressed, ill, and/or in pain
- Ability to remain levelheaded and efficient during a medical crisis
- Approaches all aspects of the job duties in a mature manner
- Works well with all team members, and assists with duties including but not limiting to cleaning
- Has excellent written and oral communications skills
- Is able to lift, carry and restrain animals up to 50 lbs.
- Is able to assist other staff members with lifting, carrying, and/or restraining animals over 50 lbs.
- Can walk and/or stand for extended periods of time, frequently in a bent position
Responsibilities:
- Adhere to the practices protocols and standards of care
- Take histories and keep proper medical records
- Prepare for and assist with physical exams, diagnostics, treatments, surgeries, etc
- Communicate with team members and provide assistance when necessary
- Daily cleaning

Pay: $15.50 - $20.00 per hour
