Job Description:
Operates a tractor trailer to load, transport and unload construction and paving equipment from job locations. Has a vast knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations as well as local laws and ordinances concerning proper load securement, permits, and oversize loads. Must have the physical ability as well as knowledge to secure each load with the correct number of chains to secure the load. Must possess a CDL A and no restriction to operate a semi or combination commercial motor vehicle to transport most type of construction equipment.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Operate a Low Boy to transport equipment but not limited to the type of truck used.
Must be able to perform pre-trip, during trip and post-trip inspections.
Transport and deliver construction materials to projects in a timely manner.
May perform other duties and operate other types of trucks.
Must have adequate reading and writing skills because some paperwork is required.
Minimum Qualifications & Training:
Experience / 1 year but will train the right person
Must have a CDL A/ Hazardous material and tanker endorsement.
Must be at least 21 years old.
Valid Medical card and an excellent driving and safety performance rating.
Ability to abide by precise instructions.
Ability to abide by strict but necessary safety rules and policies.
Must be a reliable and trustworthy individual that will be a team player.
Maintain a good attendance and safety record.
Tasks Essential to Job Functions:
Standing and walking required. Able to drive for long periods and ability to stay alert and drive defensively. Ability to climb steps etc. to perform daily duties.
Required regular lifting of 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work long periods of time in elevated temperatures due to weather and materials.
Ability to operate equipment at recommended speeds and peaks of operation.
Must be productive during each shift and be willing to meet the goals that are set.
Visual activity – ability to work safely in traffic and to know surroundings while driving, backing, and maneuvering in sometimes congested areas.
