What are the responsibilities and job description for the Painter position at Barona Resort & Casino?
OBJECTIVE:
Applies paint, varnishes and stains and removes and mixes paint. Maintains painting on structures and woodwork.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Many of the job responsibilities will be conducted in exterior and interior areas of the operation. Exterior activities will be carried out in year-round weather conditions. Interior work will be conducted on stage and back stage environments, including smoking areas. Work hours will fluctuate depending on projects, daily tasks and emergency situations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Always be NICE to fellow staff and players; find every opportunity to offer a friendly smile, wave and greeting
- Repairs drywall damage including texturing to minimize visibility of repair areas
- Installs, reapplies and repairs wall coverings
- Cleans and appropriately prepares surfaces for coatings/wall coverings
- Paints surfaces with appropriate coatings, color matches existing coatings when performing touch-ups
- Applies a variety of coatings including stains, varnishes and specialty products
- Cleans and maintains painting tools and equipment
- Uses a variety of surface preparation and paint equipment
- Understands and complies with federal, state and local regulations
- Understands and complies with Facilities Department and Casino policies and procedures
- Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to communicate with supervisor
Ability to follow directions
Knowledge of all painting equipment such as airless and hi-low pressure sprayers
Knowledge of all paint applications and paint products such as oil base, acrylic and water based paints
Familiar with a variety of the painting trade concepts, practices and procedures
Proficient in three or more coating application methods
Ability to make rational and effective decisions on the job
Friendly and courteous personality
Able to work under minimal supervision
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
High school diploma or GED
Completed an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
At least 6 years of experience in the painting field
