Barr-Reeve Community Schools is seeking a passionate and energetic Middle School Science Teacher to join our dedicated team beginning 2nd semester. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about fostering a love of science among young learners and capable of delivering engaging, rigorous, and inquiry-based science lessons that meet the needs of diverse learners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences in Science.
- Develop units of study and lesson plans in line with curriculum objectives.
- Facilitate hands-on activities, experiments, and scientific discussions.
- Assess and record students' progress and provide grades and feedback.
- Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.
- Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by school regulations.
- Participate in department, school, and parent meetings.
- Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and student needs.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching skills and scientific knowledge.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Science Education or related field.
- Valid Indiana State Teaching License in Science or eligibility to obtain one.
- While proven experience as a Science teacher at the middle school level is valued, it is not a requirement for candidates who are new to the profession. We are eager to support and develop emerging talent in education and encourage recent graduates or individuals at the beginning of their teaching careers to apply.
- Strong understanding of the Indiana academic standards for middle school science.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
