The successful candidate will develop and conduct training programs for process maintenance technicians in all areas of the Process Division to ensure technicians have the necessary skills, knowledge and attitude to perform their assigned tasks in a safe, efficient, and environmentally sound manner.

About The Team
Nevada Gold Mines (NGM) is a joint venture between Barrick (61.5%) and Newmont (38.5%) that combined our significant assets across Nevada in 2019 to create the single largest gold-producing complex in the world. NGM produces approximately 3.5 million ounces of gold a year. The massive mining operation comprises eight mines along with their associated infrastructure and processing facilities and hosts three of Barrick’s Tier One assets: Carlin, Cortez, and Turquoise Ridge. Responsibilities
- Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in all work areas to provide a safe and healthy workplace for all employees and contractors. Targeting a year-on-year reduction in TRI (total recordable injuries) of at least 15%.
- As required, participate in incident investigations (injury, significant near-miss and equipment damage), complete with detailed RCA (root cause analysis) and practical corrective actions. Ensure that the corrective actions are effectively implemented and tracked.
- Contributes to MSHA investigations when required. In addition, be involved with any remediation that may be required – associated with citations/recommendations from MSHA audits.
- Excellent and demonstrated personal commitment to safety & health - completing one FLRA (field level risk assessment) per day and ensuring any findings are documented and actioned.
- Collaborates with management to gain knowledge of specific work situations requiring employees to better understand changes in policies, procedures, regulations, and technologies.
- Collaborates with management to conduct needs analysis studies to determine training needs within organization.
- Formulates teaching outline and determines instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings, and workshops.
- Selects or develops testing and evaluation procedures to be used prior to and at completion of training.
- Conducts training sessions covering specified areas such as new employee orientation, on-the-job training, use of computers and software, apprenticeship programs, health, safety and environmental practices, and refresher training.
- Coordinate on-the-job training activities with field trainers and supervisors.
- Tests trainees to measure progress and to evaluate effectiveness of training.
- Reports on progress of employees under guidance during training periods.
- Revises design of training curriculum and methods to improvement effectiveness.
- Selects or develops teaching aids such as training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials, and reference materials.
- Provide performance and talent feedback for field trainers to supervisors.
- Make presentations to crews/divisions/corporate as required and provide facilitation support for delivery of Nevada Gold Mines sponsored training events such as New Hire, Powerful Leadership, Courageous Leadership, Working Together, and ART.
- Drafts policies and procedures for area of responsibility and submits to management team for approval.
- Maintain monthly reports, inspections, and records as required.
- Identify training and/or performance solutions that impact business results.
- Implement training and development programs that impact business results.
- Evaluate training programs for effectiveness.
- Five (5) years of maintenance experience, preferably in a mining environment required.
- Three (3) years training or frontline supervisory experience, preferably in a mining environment preferred.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Demonstrated safety leadership required.
- Willingness to adhere to and demonstrate Barrick’s core values and beliefs and act in accordance with these values required.
- Ability to work effectively with maintenance technicians and personnel of other departments required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and willingness to work in team environment required.
- Advanced demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required.
