What You Will Do – Responsibilities of the Position
Reporting to the Head of Middle & Upper School, a Middle & Upper School Substitute Teacher would be responsible for supporting Barrie MUS academic staff on an on-call basis.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Covering classes as determined by the school for the following disciplines:Humanities, Math, Science, World Languages, MS Movement (Athletics),and Interdisciplinary Electives
- Implementing instruction that aligns with lesson plans and curriculumshared by Barrie teachers
- Maintaining established routines and procedures of assignedclassrooms
- Sharing class progress and concerns with Barrie teachers daily
- Communicating effectively with students, faculty, and administratorsas needed
- Taking attendance and sharing updates with appropriate administrators
- Covering advisories and school-day community duties for teachersas needed
- Maintaining student confidentiality and following procedures and laws
- Supporting a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment
- Demonstrating empathy, respect, and an understanding of equity
- Upholding standards of professionalism
