What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Marketing position at Barrington Stage Company?
The Director of Marketing (DOM) is responsible for the effective
promotion and communication of BSC’s core mission and programming.
This comprises of the successful implementation of all initiatives and
activities, including brand strategy, messaging, marketing, advertising,
web, social media, collateral materials, group sales, and public relations to
meet institutional and ticket sales goals. The DOM collaborates with
other department heads and can translate internal marketing needs into
strong and consistent messages. The DOM needs to be a strategic thinker
while possessing the ability to execute tactically.
The position reports to the Managing Director.
Primary responsibilities
● Develop, design, implement all marketing activities for BSC including all pass
sales and single ticket campaigns which build upon BSC’s current pass
holders and ticket buyer base
● Project revenue and expenses. Monitors and efficiently allocates the
marketing budget. As resources are limited, must be able to make
judgments about proper allocation of those resources to best achieve
targeted sales numbers and dollars
● Hire, supervise and motivate a team of marketing and communications
individuals and agencies while ensuring their continuous development
● Ensure BSC remains strategically opportunistic by continually evaluating
and revising its marketing and outreach strategies; take primary
responsibility for executing BSC’s outreach strategy to create, build and
reach new audiences
● Ensure that BSC’s work is aggressively promoted on a local and national
level
● Designs, implements, and oversees group sales and telemarketing
campaigns including lead generation, direct marketing promotions, market
research and analysis, and goal setting and achievement.
● Supervises implementation of all web, electronic, and print projects,
providing creative direction and final approval.
● Provide creative direction for all marketing collateral and advertising
campaigns.
● Develops, plans and implements marketing, promotional, and grassroots
strategies designed to enhance awareness of BSC and achieve sales goals.
● Collaborate with internal departments to maximize opportunities for
content creation, and provide opportunities for campaign input where
appropriate-particularly with Artistic, Development and Education
● Oversight of box office, policies and procedures
This is a full-time, year-round, exempt position and part of the senior leadership team of BSC.
Compensation includes starting salary of $87,000 plus full benefits package.
