Job Summary: The Production Lead assists the Production Manager in achieving established production goals by utilizing the most efficient processes, assigning team members to cyclical business needs, and making suggestions for improvements. The Lead also assists in motivating team members and keeping the designated areas safe, clean, and sanitary.
The schedule for this position is Second Shift, Monday through Friday, 2:45 to 11:15.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Sets the stage for daily work tasks, reviews and evaluates the status of orders completed or still in process, prioritizes deadlines
- Works with the Production Manager to thoroughly understand and communicate production strategies and sense of urgency issues to team members; ensures urgent matters are addressed quickly without affecting quality standards
- Monitors established daily performance goals and makes necessary adjustments as needed to improve or address goals within authorized direction; continually notifies Production Manager of areas for improvements; notifies Production Manager if daily goals are exceeded or potentially going to be lower than established guidelines
- Ensures accurate data collection, metrics, reports, and paperwork in accordance with operational guidelines; validates per HACCP and SQF standards as required
- Responsible for ensuring assigned team members are following safety protocols, cleanliness guidelines, sanitation rules, operational processes, quality control standards, and plant procedures
- Uses positive reinforcement and encouragement to motivate team members in an effort to work collaboratively towards reaching or exceeding goals
- Works assigned shifts in a flexible manner and in accordance with shifting business needs; shifts may extend into evenings, holidays, OT and weekend work.
- Notifies Production Manager and/or HR of employee related issues including conflict, personal requests, injury, attendance issues, as well as key performer highlights. May provide input to Plant Manager on decisions regarding promotions, merit increases, transfers, and performance improvement plans.
- Builds trust, maintains a positive, approachable, learning, inspiring and leadership presence to avoid issues from going unknown or escalating
- Works to maximize plant team goals
- Performs other duties as assigned

- Incumbent must possess the ability to work well with production team members
- Soft skills include time management for on-time deliveries, sense of urgency and how tactfully convey such, organizational skills, communicative, adaptable, detail oriented, strong work ethic, positive interpersonal skills
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Ability to work, at a minimum, 8-hour shifts according to cyclical business demands
- Wear hair/beard net, gloves, ear plugs, safety glasses, face coverings, and other personal protective equipment as required per work area
- Lift/Carry up to 50 pounds regularly
- Push/pull/drag 75 often
- Work in 32-50 degree conditions for entire shift
- Stand/walk on concrete floor for entire shift
- Pinch/Grip/Grasp for entire shift
- Reach-with arms and hands for entire shift
- Stoop/Kneel/Crouch for entire shift
- Twist/Turn/Bend for entire shift
Qualifications, Education, Training, Licenses, Supervisory and Other Required Experience:
- Ability to complete a background check and testing according to company policies and procedures
- High School Degree or Equivalent
- Ability to safely operate a forklift; completion of forklift training
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Basic math skills and/or aptitude
- Strong attendance
- Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work the hours assigned
- Ability to complete required paperwork accurately and on a timely basis
- General understanding of SOP’s and GOP’s
- Prior experience as a Lead and/or 2 years production environment – preferred
Language Requirements:
- Fluent in English; both written and verbal
- Fluent in Spanish – preferred
Work Schedule:
- This position requires flexibility as it relates to cyclical business demands.
- On Call, OT, Weekend, and Holiday hours as needed
