Overview
The Senior Interior Designer (SID) manages the design portion of the project deliverables including conceptual designs, floorplans, renderings, revisions, and installation drawings. The SID shall strive for exceptional design of client spaces, exceeding client expectations of all deliverables while supporting the Barrows brand. The SID works directly with the Sales and support teams to deliver high quality designs based on client requests. In addition to the traditional ID job description, the SID will mentor and train the design team. The SID reports to the Director of Sales. Responsibilities
- Ownership for project deliverables; strong communications and project management skills
- High attention to detail and a keen eye for interior design and programming, fabrics, space planning and graphics
- Strong understanding of customer service, both internal and external
- Support/Manage client’s design related experience
- Meet with customers to gather project information (surveys, interviews, data collection, observations)
- Produce and present design concepts to internal and external client.
- Perform field measures, product inventory and product research
- Produce block plans, space plans, finish palettes, furniture specifications, and installation drawings
- Assist with design proposals
- Manage project timelines, fulfilling requests within SOP expectations
- Works to mentor and train other designers to build their experience and knowledge
- Acts as a leader on the design team by setting standards and guiding team in the right direction
- May perform project audits for other designers
- Strong project management skills and ability to juggle multiple programs at a time to deliver on deadline
- Performs other duties as assigned and necessary for business efficiency
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s (BA) Degree in Interior or Architectural Design from college or university
- Design Accreditation Required and 10 years’ design experience preferred
- Knowledge of commercial products and systems furniture
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD required
- Experience in additional software ideal: CET Designer, CAP, Google Sketchup, PhotoShop, REVIT
- Must have a strong understanding of CAD and graphic design
- Exceptional Customer Service skills with a passion to provide solutions to client needs
