Job Description:
At BW Papersystems, we believe in Inspired People, Superior Solutions, and Lasting Commitment. As an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and a division of Barry-Wehmiller, we provide cutting-edge packaging automation and process engineering solutions for the paper industry.
We are seeking a Materials Planner to coordinate and expedite the flow of materials, parts, and assemblies within our production process. This role will proactively monitor inventory levels, collaborate with vendors to ensure on-time delivery, and work cross-functionally to find alternatives when needed.
Key Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
Monitor production schedules and inventory levels to ensure adequate material flow.
Proactively track parts and material flow ahead of promised delivery dates.
Coordinate material transfers between warehouses and production areas.
Analyze parts requirements for long-term production planning and determine target delivery dates.
Recommend alternative materials and workarounds when necessary.
Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing to adjust delivery schedules as needed.
Work closely with vendors to track deliveries, explore second sources, and outsource as required.
Mentor and guide less experienced team members.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred.
Understanding of Lean Manufacturing processes.
Working knowledge of Infor XA.
Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic components.
Skills & Abilities:
Ability to prioritize and adapt in a dynamic environment.
Strong analytical and arithmetic skills for inventory tracking.
Proficiency in reading blueprints and interpreting technical instructions.
Experience with planning, purchasing, and scheduling procedures.
Strong supplier communication and negotiation skills.
Proficiency in Infor XA, MS Office, and general computer skills.
Ability to multi-task, collaborate, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Responsibilities:
Ensure materials are cost-effective and meet quality standards.
Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with purchasing to maintain adequate stock.
Troubleshoot materials issues while maintaining inventory business metrics.
Assist with continuous process improvements related to materials flow.
