Full-Time Monday through Fridays, primarily 8 : 30 am to 5 : 00 pm, with one evening shift per week, every fifth Saturday morning, and very occasional Sunday for special events.
Responsibilities :
This position is responsible to develop and implement music programs for residents of our community; to provide a therapeutic environment that maintains each residents highest level of physical, social and psychological well-being.
Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree in Music Therapy or its equivalent, including a 6-month internship at a clinical training facility approved by the American Music Therapy Association.
- Knowledge of the emotional, physical, mental, and social needs of the geriatric population preferred.
- Knowledge of the practical application of principles and techniques of MT useful with the geriatric population preferred.
- Ability to play at least one instrument with above average proficiency, including ability to transpose and improvise.
- Must be available to work other than normal hours.
- Regular attendance is required.
- Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English.
- Demonstrates ability to create programs utilizing training and background in music therapy.
- Occasional outdoor time will be required when transporting residents to out of facility functions.
