Salary Range: $16.00 - $18.00 Hourly

Job Summary:
A lifeguard is responsible for performing a variety of duties to prepare and maintain the pool and the surrounding area for the demands of the group present. General duties include; protecting the public against accident, proper rescue and first aid if an accident should take place, and acting as a public relations representative. The position assists the public in the locker room, sand areas, entrance of the slides and also aids in the cleaning and maintenance of the pool and the surrounding area. This is an at-will position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Gain knowledge and understanding of Park District policies and procedures and see that they are adhered to at all times.
Attend district-wide part-time staff orientations, crisis trainings and office staff trainings as directed.
Comply with the District’s Dress Code by coming to work in clean, presentable clothing and/or uniform.
Perform lifeguard duties as trained by StarGuard Elite guidelines.
Maintain the 10/20 protection rule at all times while on chair.
Prevent accidents, injuries, and drowning by reducing hazards and hazardous behavior.
Perform rescues and administer proper care treatment and first aid if an accident or injury occurs.
Provide a safe, healthy, enjoyable experience for all swimmers by; enforcing pool rules in a firm, pleasant way, being helpful and friendly to patrons, and being aware and alert at all times while on the job.
Assist with daily maintenance in all areas of both Aquatic Centers as directed by the pool managers or those persons acting in authority.
Act in a mature, responsible way in all aspects of the job.
Assist in the opening and/or closing procedures of the facility as needed.
Complete and submit all required records and reports to the manager in a timely manner.
When sick, try and secure a qualified substitute. Notify management at least 30 minutes prior to the start of your scheduled shift.
Be flexible regarding scheduling of hours due to rentals, swim meets, special events, etc.
Attend and be responsible for information presented at on-going in-service training.
Adhere to time clock procedures and keep accurate and neat record of time worked.
Responsible for maintaining clean, orderly locker rooms, washrooms, decks, and surrounding area.
Be responsible for the security of personal belongings left in the locker rooms.
Remain at the assigned duty station while on duty.
Observe and follow all Park District safety policies and regulations. The safety of staff and participants is a continuing responsibility of all employees.
The District encourages its employees to take ownership of the District. As such, it shall be the responsibility of all Park District employees to pick up litter throughout the buildings, grounds, and facilities of the District.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Must be a minimum of 15 years of age. Current StarGuard Elite Pool Lifeguard License or able to obtain. The license also includes Basic First Aid and CPR (infant, child, and adult). The Bartlett Park District offers FREE StarGuard Elite Lifeguard Classes to anyone that is interested in working at the Bartlett Park District.
SCHEDULE & PAY: This is a part-time hourly position. Season runs from May - September with various hours available. Hiring range is between $16.00 - $18.00 an hour.
