Job Summary:
The Soccer Coordinator will be responsible for assisting with the overall running of the youth soccer leagues during the Fall and Spring seasons. This includes coach recruitment, writing and posting game schedules, preparing team rosters, hiring, training, scheduling officials, checking fields to determine playability, and rescheduling games in the event of conflicts or inclement weather. This position will also be responsible for equipment inventory, stocking equipment bags, involvement and attendance in soccer related meetings/events, such as pre-season coaches meeting, picture day, evaluations, games, etc., and providing regular on-going communication with the coaches throughout the season. This is an at-will position. Other duties and responsibilities include:
- Assist with communication and interact in a professional and friendly manner with coaches and referees regarding scheduling and rescheduling of games and referees.
- Assist with completing and posting game schedules.
- Follow current hiring procedures to make sure necessary paperwork is completed in a timely manner.
- Check and maintain all soccer equipment and report to Recreation Manager to replace/order new equipment.
- Coordinate field availability with the Recreation Manager.
- Assist with checking field conditions to determine playability, per Park District guidelines for field closures.
- Assist with updating the soccer hotline and website with field conditions (open or closed).
- Assist the recreation Manager with communication and answering questions.
- Handle any problems that arise with the coaches or participants.
- Constantly monitor and evaluate operations.
- Observe and follow all Park District safety policies and regulations. The safety of staff and participants is a continuing responsibility of all employees.
- Help enforce league rules.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Must be 18 years of age or older with a High School degree and have an understanding and knowledge of sports, especially soccer. Experience working with people and good problem-solving skills. Must be dependable, extremely organized, and detail orientated. Must possess computer skills, work independently, and have the ability to communicate and work with all staff, parents and volunteers.
Schedule & Pay:
This is a part-time, hourly position. Hours will vary. The starting hiring range is $16.00 - $17.00/hour, DOQ.
