Job Description:
This position is an entry level position designed to allow the incumbent to promote upon completing specific training and demonstrating competency in performing the essential functions. It is expected the incumbent will be promoted to the highest level in order to meet Bartlett’s Orthopedic Clinic business needs.
At this level, incumbents perform basic and routine tasks under direct supervision while gaining exposure and assisting with higher level tasks to increase proficiency. Specifically, incumbents learn and are responsible for:
· Verifying all insurance for all types of patients for which a financial chart is created. This includes follow-up with insurance companies, providing certain types of information and forms as requested to insurance companies and communicating/coordinating requirements and criteria regarding a patient’s insurance to the billing department.
· Preparing the office and ensuring that there is a smooth and orderly flow of patients and patient information, both in and out, including: scheduling, filing, logbook entries, and the retrieval of records and reports.
· Booking all types of office appointments and maintaining an effective flow of communication, this includes telephone, intra-and interdepartmental and public communication.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience:
- Admin Assistant I- ($19.78 - $23.27 per hour) Six (6) months of clerical experience, preferably in a medical office is preferred.
- Admin Assistant II- ($21.64 - $25.46 per hour) One (1) year of data entry, analysis or clerical experience, preferably in a medical office OR Six (6) months as a Administrative Assistant I in the Orthopedic offices.
- Admin Assistant III- ($22.71 - $26.72 per hour) Three (3) years of data entry, analysis or clerical experience in a medical office OR Twelve (12) months as an Administrative Assistant II in the Orthopedic offices.
- Note: Clerical experience includes but not limited to the following: answering and routing phones, data entry, filing, typing correspondence or report creation, updating and maintaining databases, and managing petty cash.

Internal Hires: Pay rate will be determined based on applicable personnel rule or union contract terms.
