Job Summary:

The Cook II functions as a positive leader in the Food Services department through implementation, coordination and delegation of responsibilities to kitchen staff to ensure that the goals and objectives of the food service operation are met on a daily basis. This individual implements and oversees work to ensure that the highest standards are adhered to in the preparation of hot and cold food for individuals on therapeutic diets, customers in the cafeteria, and for catering functions. This position ensures that work areas are clean, sanitized and organized, and that health codes are adhered to at all times.

Minimum Qualifications for the Job:

• Education: High school diploma or the equivalent. One year certificate from college or technical school related to hospitality or culinary arts.
  Substitution: 3 years of experience as a Cook may substitute for the certificate. Combinations of education and experience may be considered. Experience in an institutional setting preferred.
  Licenses/Certifications: Must obtain Certified Food Protection Manager within 6 months of hire.
• Other: Must be at least 18 years of age 
  • Knowledge of large quantity food preparation.
  • Ability to read, write and speak the English language to interpret documents such as recipes, menus, meal tickets, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and logs, and procedure manuals.
