Starting Wage: $19.78 - $ 27.25/hr DOE
- Internal Hires: Pay rate will be determined based on applicable personnel rule or union contract terms.
- This position is eligible for a $2/hr casual differential on top of your base wage.
Job Summary:
The Fiscal Technician positions are responsible for the accounts receivable for various commercial insurances as well as self-pay collections as assigned. This includes but not limited to Blue Cross, Aetna, and Workman’s Compensation. This includes having knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, billing, and insurance specific rules for assigned insurances in related specialties. The Fiscal Tech II is a point of contact for patients with billing, insurance and coding questions. This position is responsible for contacting and collecting payments directly from patients, setting up and processing payment plans, and performing a variety of patient accounting related tasks in the collections office in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications for the Job:
Fiscal Tech I

Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.

Experience: One (1) year of clerical or data entry experience.

Preferred Experience: Work experience in a medical office and/or collections. Preferred Knowledge: Working knowledge of Fair Debt Collection Acts and practices as well as Medicaid, and commercial insurance knowledge. Certification:

Certification(s): Obtains Hospital Presumptive Eligibility (HPE) Certification within the probationary period.
Fiscal Tech II

Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.

Experience: Two (2) years of clerical experience in a medical office/clinic or a comparable setting.

Substitution: Education may substitute for the required work experience. *Education must be in Finance, Business, or a related field. OR Six (6) months of experience as a Fiscal Technician I may substitute for the required experience.

Preferred Experience: Billing and Collections. Preferred Knowledge: Working knowledge of Commercial insurances including Blue Cross, Aetna, VA, and Workman’s Compensation

Certification: Hospital Presumptive Eligibility (HPE) Certification. Note: This is a flexibly classed series requiring incumbents to advance to the Fiscal Technician III level. Continued employment is conditional on the incumbent’s ability to advance to the Fiscal Tech III level.
Fiscal Tech III

Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.

Experience: Three (3) years of coding, billing, and collection experience in a medical office/clinic or comparable setting.

Substitution: Education may substitute for up to two (2) years of the required work experience. *Education must be in Finance, Business, or a related field.

Note: Applicants using this substitution must also have one (1) year of medical office/clinical experience which includes coding, billing, and collections. OR Six (6) months of experience as a Fiscal Technician II may substitute for the required experience.
