Position Description: Under the direction of the Gallery Director, the student is responsible for completing the duties and tasks assigned to him/her to aid in the Gallery's daily routines.
Position Responsibilities: 25.00% - Greet visitors, answer phones, and provide information for visitors to the gallery 25.00% - Perform general office duties including photocopying, filing, database entry, and preparing mailings 20.00% - Assist in the installation and de-installation of gallery exhibitions 20.00% - General cleaning of gallery and displays 10.00% - Performs other duties as needed or assigned Expectations: Ability to maintain confidentiality and security Maintain a friendly and professional attitude Willingness to learn and utilize museum best practices Will have own vehicle or guaranteed transportation to and from work Be able to work alone in Gallery, Friday and Saturdays, May through August Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Experience - None, but previous museum or office experience is preferred Education - Current student enrolled in required number of credit hours Other Skills - Basic computer skills (word processing, Excel) is preferred. Ability to climb a ladder and ability to conduct moderate physical labor Physical Requirements: The work requires minor physical exertion such as short periods of standing, walking over rough uneven surfaces, some recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities. Job may require recurring lifting of lightweight objects with infrequent bending or stooping alternating with the lighter activities. Job requires minimal agility and dexterity. Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a normal office or classroom Wages/Other: This position pays $9.00/ hour.
