Baryshnikov Arts, founded in 2005 by Artistic Director Mikhail Baryshnikov, is rooted in the belief that artists hold irreplaceable roles in our world by shaping perspectives, offering new approaches, and initiating crucial conversations in complex social, political, and cultural environments. Our mission supports artistic freedom, providing multidisciplinary artists with opportunities for creative exploration and unique artistic expression, and allowing audiences to view the world in new ways. We offer performance and commissioning opportunities, artist residencies, rentals, and more.
The Education and Community Engagement programs of Baryshnikov Arts exist to support excellent accessible, interdisciplinary arts experiences for anyone and the faculty within these programs are essential to delivering the programs with this vision at the forefront of their teaching practice.
Faculty are hired as part-time seasonal employees and have rates for planning, evaluation, and administrative tasks (administrative rate) and direct contact hours with program participants (instruction rate).
Title: Teaching Artist, Positions Available in Visual Arts, Theater, and Music
Designation: Part-time Seasonal Employee (daily schedule TBC, week of April 14-18, 2025) Compensation:
- Administrative Rate: $22 per hour
- Instruction Rate: $60 per hour

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Plan classes that align pedagogically and philosophically with the stated goals and objectives of the Baryshnikov Arts Education and Community Engagement programs
• Oversee and deliver direct instruction of the curriculum to Baryshnikov Arts program participants
• Participate in regular faculty planning meetings and collaboration as determined necessary by Director of Education and Community Engagement
• Undergo a background check as a part of the onboarding process
QUALIFICATIONS:
• B.A., B.F.A and or B.S. in arts education (for example, Dance Education, Music Education, Theater Education, or Visual Arts Education) or in art form itself (for example, Dance, Music, Theater, or Visual Arts)
• At least 5 years’ experience in lead teaching experience within the art form specified in the Baryshnikov Arts program
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of childhood developmental stages and their associated impact on classrooms, particularly for children ages 4-12
• Experience and training in teaching within a culturally responsive pedagogical environment
• Ability to commute daily to Kaatsbaan Cultural Park in Tivoli, NY (please note that teaching artists unable to commit to this will not be considered as housing and transportation cannot be provided as part of this opportunity)
Title: Assistant Teaching Artist
Designation: Part-time Seasonal Employee (daily schedule TBC, week of April 14-18, 2025)
Compensation:
- Administrative Rate: $16 per hour
- Instruction Rate: $22 per hour

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Model the instructional prompts of the lead Teaching Artist
• Provide modifications and individual student support while lead Teaching Artist directs the group
• Support lead Teaching Artist’s classroom management
• Respond to participant needs in the moment and with a calm, appropriate demeanor
QUALIFICATIONS:
• 1-2 years prior experience working as a camp counselor, babysitter, or other child oversight role
• Interest in learning and engaging with understanding of childhood developmental stages and their associated impact on classrooms, particularly for children ages 4-12
• Ability to commute daily to Kaatsbaan Cultural Park in Tivoli, NY (please note that assistant teaching artists unable to commit to this will not be considered as housing and transportation cannot be provided as part of this opportunity)
