Senior RF Engineer

Location: O’Fallon, MO

Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior RF Engineer to join our team and lead the design, development, and testing of advanced radio frequency (RF) systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in RF circuit design, system integration, and troubleshooting, as well as a deep understanding of wireless communication technologies. This role will be instrumental in developing cutting-edge RF solutions for applications in aerospace and defense. 

 Bascom Hunter provides solutions to the Department of Defense (DoD) and Aerospace markets across various disciplines. Our BH Tech division currently provides products and services across four product lines: Advanced Systems, RF Front Ends, Mixed Signal and Digital Solutions.  

Compensation will be commensurate with experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• RF System Design & Development: Design, develop, and optimize RF and microwave circuits, including filters, amplifiers, and transceivers.
• Testing & Validation: Perform RF system simulations, prototyping, and validation using industry-standard tools and lab equipment (e.g., network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators).
• Product Integration & Support: Work closely with hardware and software teams to ensure seamless integration of RF components into overall system architectures.
• Troubleshooting & Optimization: Identify and resolve RF performance issues such as interference, signal integrity, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC/EMI).
• Project Leadership: Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and oversight to junior engineers and cross-functional teams.
• Compliance & Standards: Ensure RF designs comply with industry regulations (FCC, CE, ITU, MIL-STD, etc.) and optimize for performance and efficiency.
• Documentation & Reporting: Prepare technical reports, design documentation, and presentations for stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• Education: Master's or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: 10 years of experience in RF system design and development, preferably in telecommunications, aerospace, defense, or consumer electronics.

• Technical Expertise:
  1. Strong knowledge of RF circuit design, including impedance matching, low-noise amplifiers (LNAs), power amplifiers, and oscillators.
  2. Hands-on experience with RF simulation tools (e.g., ADS, CST, HFSS, MATLAB, Ansys).
  3. Proficiency with RF test and measurement equipment.
  4. Experience with PCB layout and high-frequency signal routing.
  5. Understanding of EMC/EMI mitigation techniques.
• Soft Skills:

  2. Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  3. Ability to work independently and collaborate in a team environment.
• Experience with software-defined radio (SDR) and RFIC design. [Nice to have]
• Knowledge of satellite communications or radar systems. [Nice to have]
• Experience working in the defense industry [Nice to have]

This position requires a DoD Security clearance.
