Job Summary:
We are looking for an organized and collaborative Production Scheduler to join our team. This role is responsible for coordinating production schedules, gathering accurate work time data from all departments, and optimizing resources to meet production goals. The ideal candidate will support lean manufacturing practices while fostering strong communication and teamwork across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Planning and Scheduling:
- Develop and maintain daily and weekly production schedules.
- Adjust schedules based on changing priorities, customer demands, or production issues.
Cross-Department Collaboration:
- Work closely with all departments, including production, engineering, purchasing, and quality, to gather accurate work time and resource data.
- Facilitate open communication to ensure everyone understands production priorities and timelines.
Lean Manufacturing Integration:
- Apply lean manufacturing principles to improve scheduling efficiency and reduce waste.
- Suggest improvements for workflow and process optimization.
Inventory and Resource Coordination:
- Monitor material availability and communicate with procurement to avoid delays.
- Track work-in-progress (WIP) and ensure resource allocation aligns with production needs.
Performance Tracking and Reporting:
- Analyze production data and provide reports on key metrics such as efficiency, on-time delivery, and resource utilization.
- Propose actionable recommendations based on data analysis.
Problem Solving and Adaptability:
- Address and resolve scheduling conflicts, equipment downtime, or resource shortages promptly.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Associates degree or higher required.
- Some technical training or coursework in operations management or related fields is a plus.
Experience:
- Experience in Production planning or a similar role preferred, but not required.
- Familiarity with machine shop operations and lean manufacturing concepts is a bonus.
Skills:
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Proficiency with scheduling tools (e.g., Excel, ERP/MRP systems).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across departments.
- Basic understanding of lean manufacturing principles is an advantage.
