The Analytics and Materials Characterization team focuses on analytical problem-solving using various characterization techniques such as microscopy, spectroscopy, thermal analysis, elemental analysis, and physical testing. Our high-volume, fast-paced laboratory environment supports the research efforts of BASF scientists in North America and globally.
As a Technician, you will perform laboratory tasks, safely handle hazardous chemicals, and assist analytical chemists with sample preparation and quality control, all while ensuring a clean and safe work environment.

As a Technician, you will perform laboratory tasks, safely handle hazardous chemicals, and assist analytical chemists with sample preparation and quality control, all while ensuring a clean and safe work environment.
During your 8-hour day shift as a Laboratory Technician I, you will
- Receive and follow instructions for assigned tasks, independently executing essential laboratory processes and equipment operations.
- Safely manage a variety of hazardous chemicals, including acids, R&D samples, and waste disposal, in accordance with wet chemistry techniques.
- Thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while ensuring the timely preparation of various material types.
- Support analytical chemists with daily responsibilities, including solid sample preparation, liquid sample dilution, pipette validation, and balance verification.
- Comply with ISO and quality standards to uphold quality control requirements for the position.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to 5S principles.
- Hold a High School Diploma with at least 2 years of laboratory experience; an Associate Degree in Chemistry or a related field with 1 year of experience; or a BS in Chemistry or a related science with no experience.
- Have experience with wet chemistry equipment and analytical methods.
- Understand the safe handling of chemicals and equipment, including maintaining detailed records.
- Are capable of safely lifting up to 50 lbs.
