What you'll do
The Patient Care Service Associate (PCSA) II is a key member of the nursing care team. They welcome
patients, family members and health care team members on the telephone and in-person. They answer patient inquires. Shares accountability for quality patient outcomes. This role provides administrative clinical support for their department.
- Performs patient care treatments as assigned by supervisor and other health care team members.
- Maintains a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients and families in
accordance with hospital standards. - Performs telemetry and electrocardiograms.
- (PCSA II) Uses clinical knowledge in the care and management of patients based on
diagnoses and the unit assigned as measured by direct supervisory observation. - (PCSA II) Provider peri-care to patients with a foley catheter as directed and observed by
supervisor. - (PCSA II) Support training and mentoring of new PCSA/NA/NUCs as directed and
observed by supervisor.

- Answers telephone in a timely, courteous manner, and relays messages to appropriate
personnel. - Performs and/or supports unit based audits.
- Supports interdepartmental patient flow process.
- Supports workflow processes for providers and health care team members.
- Performs patient service initiatives.

- Collaborates with Nurse Manager to support adherence to unit budget.
- Completes all unit specific and department competency requirements.
- Attends relevant educational and training programs.
- Communicates effectively with patients and visitors.
- Maintain the confidentiality of patient’s information.
- Directing /transporting patients and visitors to the right location.
- Keep patients and family members updated in delays and schedule changes.
- Answer basic patient/ family inquiries.
- Order medical, paper and dietary supplies as needed.
- Assist in cleaning and preparing patient bays.
- Coordinate with various departments to ensure proper flow of patients.
- Performs similar or related duties as requested or directed
- Performs other duties as requested and observed by supervisor or manager.
- Waiting area attendant additional functions:
- Welcoming of patients and family members to waiting areas
- Ambulatory Surgical Unit additional functions:
- Prints daily OR schedule, patient stickers and name bands
- Assists with the unit's admission processes for the pre surgical/pre procedural patient
- Prepare charts for the next day cases
- Post Anesthesia Care areas additional functions:
- Assists with the safe discharge of the post-surgical/post procedural patient
- Print patient stickers and name bands
What we need from you
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED, preferred
Experience:
- Minimum 1 year previous experience in a health-related position, required. Completion of 1 year of RN program can be substituted for experience program
Licensure/Certifications:
- BLS or Heart Saver with AED must be obtained within 6 months from date of hire, required

Pay Range
Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards. The above compensation range represents a good faith belief of the compensation range by Bassett Healthcare Network, and its entities and affiliates, at the time of this posting or advertisement.
Pay Range Minimum:
USD $17.32/Hr.
Pay Range Maximum:
USD $25.98/Hr.
