What you'll do
Operate telephone business systems equipment or switchboards to relay incoming, outgoing, and interoffice calls. May supply information to callers and record messages.
- Answers, transfers, and directs incoming calls using all resources available. Provides directory assistance.
- Receives Emergency Calls and initiates procedures specific to the type of emergency.
- Monitors alarm panels for generators, medical gas, and refrigeration system and appropriately initiates response to alarms.
- Check in surgical patients.
- Monitors secure front entrance and screen non-employees requesting entry after normal business hours.
- Provides quality customer service and accurate information to internal and external customers
- Performs alphanumeric paging
- Overhead paging
- Answering Service Responsibilities: Documents calls, contacts providers, sends messages and follows up as appropriate.
- Sorts mail. Forwards mail to accurate department.
- Provides instructions and directions to patients, patients’ families, and visitors
- Maintains all informational reference lists. For example, switchboard census, phone lists, pager listings, etc.
- Other duties as assigned
What we need from you
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED, required
Experience:
- Minimum 1 year experience in healthcare setting as a receptionist or switchboard operator, preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 lbs of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force
frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting
most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking or standing are required only occasionally, and all other
sedentary criteria are met. - Occasional grasping, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, walking
- Frequent typing/clerical/dexterity, repetitive motion, seeing/monitor/computer use, talking, visual acuity

Pay Range
Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards. The above compensation range represents a good faith belief of the compensation range by Bassett Healthcare Network, and its entities and affiliates, at the time of this posting or advertisement.
Pay Range Minimum:
USD $16.00/Hr.
Pay Range Maximum:
USD $24.00/Hr.
