Material Handler (1st Shift)

*This position operates on a 1st shift schedule, 6am-230pm, Mon-Fri.*

This Material Handler is responsible for a variety of Material Handling tasks, including but not limited to picking, staging and kitting of purchased and manufactured parts to support assembly and shipping operations, forklift operations, shipping and receiving operations, cycle counts of inventory, etc. The position requires the highest level of accuracy due to customer expectations and the critical importance of inventory accuracy. This position requires a forklift certification as well as handling/sorting of parts into racks, carts or containers throughout the day.

Job Duties:

• Unloading, loading, put away, transporting to packing line and staging areas within the facility and meeting productivity
• Ability to use Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and accurate tracking of all material movements
• Direct lines of communication with purchasing, manufacturing and project managers regarding material and order status
• Handling and sorting of parts into pallet racks, staging carts or and containers while meeting the productivity expectations
• Ensure inventory accuracy by owning and continuously improving the inventory and staging / kitting system
• Understanding of project product/unit requirements and components for Assembly team
• Maintaining a clean and safe work area utilizing the principles of 5S
• Manage the coordination of shipping & receiving schedules for the facility; generation of picking Bill of Materials as needed
• Identify missing parts or incomplete orders, shipments or kits and escalate as necessary to ensure ship dates are not missed
• A Material Handler will be able to perform at least MH functions (staging, receiving, shipping)
• Strong mechanical acumen has proven to be successfully in this role

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

• Obtained a High School Diploma/GED or equivalent; technical degrees are acceptable as well
• Ability to operate industrial equipment (fork truck, walkie, pallet jack, etc.)
• Ability to operate heavy duty equipment in a safe
• Familiarity with ERP or WMS systems (SAP, Oracle, D365)
• Experience with Inventory Management/allocation is a requirement
• A Level I Material Handler will be able to perform at the following functions (staging, receiving, shipping, cycle counting)

Physical Demands:

• Particularly for sustained periods of time performing the duties below:
  • Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires substantial use of upper extremities and back muscles
  • Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound medium work
  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
  • Ability to pass internal Industrial Vehicle test and operate industrial equipment (fork truck, walkie, pallet jack, etc.) in a safe manner/practice
