Job Description

The Structural / Support Engineer will support the ML2 Project within a systems engineering environment for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) at Kennedy Space Center in Merritt Island, FL.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

Locating and designing supports for various piping systems and performing associated calculations.
Works closely with layout personnel and pipe stress engineers to deliver a quality and cost-effective design.
Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and vendors as required.
Familiarity with common pipe support hardware, industry standards, and relevant codes such as AISC & ASME B31.3.
Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED :

This position requires US Citizenship due to the sensitivity of customer related information.

Must have a bachelor's degree in the field of structural engineering, or a related field.

Must have 7 years of recent and related work experience.

Must have prior experience using structural analysis programs.

Must have experience working in a 3D model environment.

Knowledge of AISC and ASME B31.3 and other relevant industry codes and standards.

DESIRED :

PE registration preferred.

Prior experience using pipe support analysis programs GTStrudel.

Prior experience using Pipe Support Modeler software.

Previous DOD / DOE project experience.

WORK LOCATION :

This position is located onsite but remote work will be considered.

This position may require some travel.

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED :

All Bastion employees must be able to pass a national agency check, some positions require a clearance and will require an extensive background verification / check process.

DRUG AND ALCOHOL SCREENING REQUIRED :

All Bastion employees must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen; some contracts require participation in periodic random drug and alcohol screening programs.

STANDARD BASTION REQUIREMENTS :

Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

All of Bastion's employees must be team players.

Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in written form, with internal and external customers.

Able to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives.

Must have a strong work ethic and must be safety culture oriented.

Must be organized with good time management skills.

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time).

May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).

Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.

Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
