CNC Programmer

Responsible for the programming and maintenance of computer numeric controlled production equipment.  May work with others to ensure that production schedules are met.

Position Details

• Develop CNC programs based on engineering drawings and models.
• Configure tools and ensure efficient production.
• Analyze drawings, blueprints, and design data to calculate correct part dimension for machines, tool selection, machine speeds, and feed rates.
• Create routers & assemble production packets for the fabrication department.
• Occasionally set up and operate CNC equipment.
• Monitor output and proper operation of mechanical equipment.  Make mechanical and/or program adjustments to ensure parts are meeting quantity and quality requirements.
• Use precision measuring instruments including micrometers and calipers, and fixtures and gauges to check work.
• Read instrumentation and gauges to accurately measure dimensions on parts that are being machines within a .001 tolerance.
• Communicate recommendations to modify processes to improve productivity and quality.
• Provide shop support and operator training, as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION & experience requirements

• High School or GED Diploma – Associates Degree or Certification in related field a plus.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience programming and with CNC machines.
• Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the sheet metal field.
• Must have proficient understanding of G-code and M-code programming.
• Experience setting up and troubleshooting CNC machines.
• Able to demonstrate good manufacturing practices and be able to select tooling and machine resources for manufacturing of parts.
• Strong mathematical skills.
• Blueprint with GD&T reading abilities.
• Able to read instrumentation and gauges for measurement purposes.

• Microsoft Office Applications.
• Professional communication skills, both verbally and in written.
• Strong mathematical, analytical and overall computer skills.
• Able to work cooperatively in a team environment.
• Able to work well with very little directive, carry out assignments and prioritize issues.
• Organization and multi-tasking skills.
