Position Summary
This position is responsible for completing Romtec Utilities PLC/HMI system programming to aid in the completion of commissioning and Startup. In addition, the Control System programmer may be responsible for traveling to customer jobsites.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Completes automation system programming to aid in the completion of commissioning and startup of systems including but not limited to pumps, valves/piping, instrumentation, electrical, SCADA, and automation control.
- Completes quality control checks of UL508 control panels to ensure documentation reflects the actual as-built condition; makes repairs and provides documentation as necessary. Operates and maintains electrical and electronic test equipment.
- Performs automation and control system programming for pumping system applications.
- Performs research and development for control system components including but not limited to Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Human Machine Interfaces (HMI)/Operator Interface terminals (OIT), and Variable Frequency Drives (VFD), and networking methodologies.
- Performs on-site troubleshooting; assists customers remotely.
- Completes repairs and replacement of components under warranty.
- Interacts with Customers, Engineers, and Contractors; candidates must always exhibit a high level of professionalism.
- Maintains accurate and thorough documentation.
- Provides technical training to end users.
- Aspects of this job may require the candidate to work outside in the elements.
- Requires occasional travel.
- Candidate must be able to lift 50lbs.
- Candidates must have the ability to work extended periods of time on their feet, bent over, and/or in a kneeling position.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

· Two years of post-secondary technical education, or a minimum of five years’ relevant experience.
· Electrical knowledge with an understanding of control systems
· Mechanical skills with an understanding of pumps and pumping systems.
· Good computer skills required with experience using Word, Excel and AutoCAD or equivalent.
Other Qualifications:
- Experience with automation and control systems
- Experience with mechanical and pumping systems
- Experience in the design and/or installation of electrical systems
· Field Service/Commissioning/Troubleshooting experience
- Experience in an Industrial Engineering environment

All potential employees who will be engaged in any physical activity will take an agility and hearing test, provided. These tests are intended to assist the supervisor in evaluating the demands of the position relative to the results of the test. Once a candidate is considered for the position Human Resources will work with the candidate to schedule an appointment for the agility and hearing testing. The test will be performed by a medical facility or an industrial physical testing provider. Romtec will cover the charges of these tests that are required.
