We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced professional to teach courses in IT project management and computer information security for our new Bachelor of Applied Science in Computer Information Security and IT Project Management. This role focuses on preparing students for careers in IT governance, risk management, compliance, and project coordination within technology-driven environments. The ideal candidate will have expertise in IT security frameworks, risk assessment, and project methodologies, with a strong emphasis on real-world applications in workplace IT operations. Specific courses we anticipate being taught in the 2025-2026 academic year may include: IT Project Management, Business and Financial Acumen for IT Professionals, IT Governance & Risk Management Foundations, Disaster Recovery and Incident Response, Data Privacy and IT Security Legal Regulations, and Global Perspectives in Technology.
This position will be open until filled.Essential Functions
- Develop and teach courses related to IT project management, IT governance, risk assessment, and information security.
- Teach assigned courses and provide high quality instruction in a variety of delivery methods, including face-to-face, web-enhanced, hybrid, and online, hours include afternoon and evening classes to accommodate working individuals.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with colleagues and students.
- Provide each student with clear course expectations, evaluations and timelines through carefully written topical outlines and approved standardized syllabus.
- Provide hands-on learning experiences, integrating industry best practices in IT security and project coordination and management.
- Guide students to understand compliance standards and other relevant cybersecurity and risk management frameworks.
- Collaborate with industry partners to align curriculum with workforce needs in IT security and technology project management.
- Support students in preparing for relevant industry certifications such as CAPM, Security , CISSP (Associate level), Agile or CISM.
- Support student exploration and development toward career pathways in IT project management and security-focused roles.
- Participate in curriculum development and continuous improvement to ensure courses remain aligned with evolving industry standards.
- Develop and/or maintain industry-based program accreditation, and ensure students are prepared for and have the opportunity to obtain relevant industry credentials and certifications.
- Support college student achievement practices to ensure student retention, completion, and progression.
- Provide interesting and relevant assignments for students that demonstrate learning outcomes in a real-life setting.
- Respond to student questions on a timely basis.
- Provide individual and small group instruction to students in a classroom setting.
- Ensure that individual, lab, and small group instruction is based on best available education practices, meet standards for content, and is relevant to students’ vocational career training at the college.
- Maintain student and curriculum records i.e. student progress and attendance, instructional syllabi, course curriculum and plans, and grades.

- Deliver classroom management to maintain a suitable learning environment by responding appropriately to student conduct/problems and provide assistance in solving them in accordance with college procedures.
- Provide budget management which includes requisition and maintenance control of and safeguard inventories of equipment and supplies assigned to the program.
- Participate actively and collaboratively with College Student Services and program advisory committees to support access to employment opportunities for students, and maintain student job placement records.
- Accountable for keeping personal development up-to-date; adding skills and knowledge through courses that may be available through the Bates Technical College courses, professional development committees, etc.
- Participate actively and collaboratively on committees for college as needed including but not limited to staff recruitment, college councils, etc.
- Additional activities, duties and responsibilities may be added with or without notice to meet college needs.
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Cybersecurity or related field.
- Five years of professional experience in related field, teaching may be included as a portion of the required years’ experience, though professional work experience in an IT field is desired.
- Industry certifications related to IT security and/or project management (e.g., CAPM, PMP, Security , CISSP, CISM) or ability to become certified by Sept 2025.
- Professional experience in IT security operations, IT compliance, or IT project coordination.
- Familiarity with federal, state, and industry cybersecurity regulations and best practices.
- Prior teaching or training experience in higher education, workforce development, or corporate settings.
- Doctorate degree in a relevant field.
- Working experience with the CANVAS learning management system.
