The Plant Human Resources Manager functions as a strategic business partner within the site leadership team and is tasked with delivering comprehensive human resources leadership and support to the Batesville, Indiana plant facilities. The manager collaborates with leadership to develop and execute effective short- and long-term strategies aimed at achieving organizational goals. Utilizing HR expertise and industry knowledge, the manager assesses and addresses complex HR issues within a dynamic and evolving business environment. Additionally, this role involves developing, directing, and coordinating human resources policies and programs in areas such as recruitment, associate relations, labor relations, performance management, leadership development, and training.

- Lead HR at the plant(s) and manage site resources and responsibilities, provide leadership, evaluate performance, and drive service expertise for HR in the plants.
- Provides guidance/counsel on employee relations, performance management and salary administration; assessing, creating, and/or facilitating management training; acting as a conduit for organizational feedback. Partner with the business in the implementation of initiatives and programs which align to the business goals and help drive our people strategy and inclusive culture.
- Manage the labor relations processes for the plant(s), ensuring compliance to the contract. Partner with the VP, Human Resources, and Plant Manager to manage the relationship with the union, for negotiation preparations, and in conducting negotiations. Serve as the site expert in understanding and interpreting the labor contract and advising leaders at the plant(s).
- Manage plant HR activities such as hourly recruiting, performance management employee/labor relations, and local talent management efforts.
- Helps drive high performance work systems with a leadership role in driving organization capability.
- Leverage specialized knowledge about the unique plants’ practices, business needs, people, and procedures to execute HR tasks.
- Work with management to ensure timely understanding of current and future workforce needs, design and implement programs and improvements to staffing processes including sourcing, selection, onboarding and training.
- Support the functional strategy by designing programs and practices to attract, retain, and/or engage talent in alignment with the business strategy.
- Responsible for maintaining all compliance requirements for plant(s) HR processes, assure third party vendors adhere to established service standards, and provide feedback to the appropriately regarding performance.
- Manage supplemental activities such as community involvement and associate events, etc.
- Facilitate the Leadership Talent Review process, talent identification and development, and participate in the formulation of organizational strategy and succession plans for assigned functional areas.
- Oversee the analysis, metrics and communication of all human resources related activities in the assigned organizations. Includes regular review of measures to drive performance, identify trends and develop/implement improvements, escalating issues and proposed solutions as appropriate.
- Develop, initiate, and manage operational process improvements to improve service delivery, efficiency and effectiveness of HR services and support.
- Support organizational direction and culture; effectively manage associate performance using established company tools/methodologies; recommend personnel decisions; assure that company policies and procedures are followed and set an example for team members.
- Act as a site safety champion by partnering with Environmental, Health and Safety team to ensure OSHA compliance, incident investigation on all work-related injuries or accidents and claims management and promote a safe working environment.
- Directly supervises one or more associates. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company policies, the Code of Ethical Business Conduct, and applicable laws. This position will also need to be able to lead through influence a variety of leaders and team members.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S./B.A.) or equivalent from a college or university in; or equivalent combination of education and experience with an emphasis in human resources.
- At least 3 to 5 years’ HR functional experience in manufacturing with strong knowledge in employee/labor relations, leadership development, staffing, training, and performance management.
- Experience leading and mentoring a team and helping to foster/create a positive culture.
- Experience delivering and improving HR processes to maximize efficiency & delivering quality services/support.
- Possess excellent judgment, deep understanding of HR principles and practices, demonstrated leadership and business acumen.
- Intermediate experience developing/identifying top talent.
- Have a track record of delivering for the business while creating a positive human resource culture in the company.
- Ability to travel 10% of the time.
- Intermediate experience with union relations (leading contract negotiations and labor agreements).
- Intermediate experience communicating effectively with groups at all levels and all sizes.
- SPHR or SHRM-SCP Certification.
