SUMMARY Performs intermediate skilled administrative support and technical duties in the school board office to provide for the effective and efficient management in the assigned area by performing the following duties :
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Instructional Assistant duites may apply for part of the day.
Composes, or transcribes from rough draft, correspondence, bulletins, memorandums, and other material.
Greets visitors to the school board office, determines nature of business, and directs visitors to destination.
Performs general office duties of copying, word processing, management of telephone calls, taking / delivering messages, creating databases, filing, and other management activities.
Answers telephone to provide information, take message, or transfer calls.
Manage records for various financial information.
Manage and prepare reimbursements for special grants
Prepare purchase orders and requisitions.
Coordinate special projects and publications for assigned supervisor(s).
Assist in the development of computer presentations.
Maintains calendar / schedule for immediate supervisor.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Obtain commission as a Notary Public in the Commonwealth of Virginia and AED, CPR, and First Aid certifications within six months of hire.
