What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clerical Specialist position at Wythe County Community Hospital?
Provide administrative support, performs clerical and customer service functions, as well as non-technical duties in the hospital.
Reports to: Director of Case Management
Minimum Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Associate’s degree preferred.
Knowledge of Medical Terminology required.
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Proficiency in computer data entry skills required. Familiarity with medical records, DRGs and diagnoses desired. Time management and organizational skills required.
Minimum Work Experience
At least one year experience with verification of insurance, obtaining authorizations, ICD-10 coding (minimal) preferred.
Two years' experience in related health care required.
