Position Summary:
The Summer Internship Program offers students work experience and professional guidance in several areas of the organization. Interns contribute to projects that support departmental work, develop new skills, and gain insight into their career interests. Interns will have the opportunity to explore behind the scenes of Battery Park City Authority’s innovative vision and design, complex public space management, leadership in sustainable practices, and commitment to outstanding public resources.
Essential Duties:
Under the direct supervision of the Deputy Chief Contracting Officer and various Assistant Contracting Officers, the chosen individual would help with various internal procurement related projects.
The Procurement Department Intern will perform the following tasks:
- Assist Procurement Department in issuing solicitation of all-types, processing invoices for commodity purchases and gathering vendor onboarding paperwork
- Create and upload PDFs, Spreadsheets, and Word files into SharePoint for the timely processing of Procurements.
- Make telephone calls and send emails to other state agencies and authorities to request relevant information/documentation
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education and Skills:
- Current student from a two-year or four-year accredited institution of higher learning (able to provide a writing sample and recommendations from faculty or members of their community familiar with their work)
- Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Strong attention to detail

- Confident verbal and written communication skills

- Strong interest in learning on the job with the ability to work well both independently and with others
