Position Responsibilities:
- Instruct and support students with self-control behavior exceptionalities.
- Provide student feedback with peer and adult social interaction
- Reinforce student success following highly structured protocols and data documentation methods
- Participation in a professional learning community and on-going training as a continuous learner
- Assist in building positive relationships between students, schools and community organizations
- Assist teacher and in developing student behavior and academic goals
- Maintain order in the absence of the lead teacher
- Assist staff during parent conferences and concerns
- Participate with ongoing formative and summative academic assessments conducted by teachers to determine students' academic progress and continuing need for social work services.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with teachers, and the principal regarding students' needs, the intervention plans being used, and barriers to progress.
- May assist family members in understanding the student's needs
- Understand and participate in the implementation of Positive Behavior Support initiatives in the building
- Ensure the successful reintegration of students who are returning to school following suspension or other disciplinary action
- Maintain effective written records for each student receiving services, including:
- Specific data illuminating the academic deficiencies the student exhibits;
- Work collaboratively in building and district initiatives which supports continuous improvement
Qualifications:
- Complete at least two years of study at an accredited institution of higher education (equal to 60 semester hours); or
- Obtain an associate degree (or higher) from an accredited institution; or
- Meet a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrate, through passage of an approved formal state academic assessment in the following areas:
- Knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics; or
- Knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness, as appropriate.

- College Board’s SAT – Must score at least a 480 on evidence-based reading and writing and a 530 on math
- ETS Parapro Assessment – A passing score of 460 is required

- Knowledge of basic research-based classroom management strategies and academic interventions in the areas of literacy and math.
- Ability to work with students and staff in a professional manner.
