We are currently seeking a Maintenance Technician with experience in the manufacturing industry.
The Maintenance Technician performs highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production machines, equipment, buildings and grounds.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative and scheduled maintenance and/or repairs on machines, equipment, hydraulic laminating presses, centrifugal and diaphragm pumps, hoisting equipment and compressors.
- Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of machines, production equipment, buildings and grounds, as needed.
- Install and set up equipment and/or machines accurately and efficiently.
- Instruct Operators how to use machines and to maintain machine tolerances clearly, accurately and timely.
- Visually inspect machines to detect potential malfunctions and listen to machine operation to identify evidence of excessive wear or areas that require adjustment.
Adjust and/or repair all machines and related equipment according to maintenance schedule, manufacture’s service manual or diagnosis of machine malfunction.
- Replace, repair or install new parts, perform tests and make adjustments as needed, to restore machine to operating condition.
- Maintain spare parts inventory list for machines and equipment. Ensure frequently used spare parts are stocked.
- Communicate with Operators to determine the nature of the malfunction of faulty machines. Dismantle suspected components using hand tools.
- Repair, straighten, file or modify worn or defective parts using hand tools and machines such as; drill press, milling machine, lathe, grinder or welder.
- Design and fabricate tooling, jigs and fixtures in support of manufacturing.
- Verify dimensions of new or repaired parts using micrometer, feeler gauges and fixed gauges.
- Manage all contractor and vendor contracts. Seek multiple quotes before contract renewals to ensure the company receives the most cost-effective and comprehensive services available.
- Comply with all state and federal regulatory requirements, which includes scheduling periodic inspections of required equipment (gas burner & Freon) and maintaining all compliance records for the department.
- Adheres to all safety regulations, policies and procedures and maintains a clean and organized workspace.
- Available OT and weekends as needed
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of applicable software including word processing and Excel spreadsheets to record and report information critical to managing inventories and associated costs
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills to all levels of management
- Ability to read, write and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts, such as measurements and volumes, for basic mathematical situations and problems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to define issues, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions and assess the completion of items to be sent to customers.
- Forklift License (training and certification provided by SURTECO)
- Knowledge of machines, tools, repair methods and procedures, including their designs, uses, benefits and maintenance is required
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or GED
- 5 year’s maintenance and electrical experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience operating a Bridgeport Milling Machine and Monarch Lathe
- Experience with electronics, pneumatics, hydraulics and large machine parts and electrical components including limit switches, photo switches, proximity switches and contactors
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds as needed
- Frequently positions self to use/maintain personal protective equipment
- Comfortable with working in a manufacturing environment alongside machines, equipment, etc.
- Ability to detect, distinguish, or determine the source of a smell
- Exposure or works around chemical processing, unregulated temperature, dusty conditions
