About Baxter’s Cleveland, MS Facility:

Cleveland’s technology and automation are cutting edge.  It is the U.S. sole source for plastic pour bottles, glass IV, and various reconstitution devices.  This facility has a number of major product lines with a diverse array of automated manufacturing technologies ranging from bottle solution filling, injection molding, tubing extrusion, and device assembly. Summary:

Through subordinate supervisors, manages shift or multiple shift operations within manufacturing departments. Responsible for meeting budget, quality, and production goals, setting standards, and making employment and staffing decisions. Interprets manufacturing policies, procedures, and programs.  Manage department operations to deliver products that meet both quality and budget standards.  Develop and work to Business/Quality plans with 5-year objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (these are primary responsibilities of the role and the incumbent will perform other duties as assigned):

  • Adheres to all environmental, health and safety SOPs, equipment, policies and procedures, including any department specific requirements.
  • Commit to employee feedback and developmental processes.
  • Make staffing decisions.
  • Investigate and resolve disciplinary issues up to and including suspensions and terminations.
  • Will be responsible for driving operational excellence and flawless execution in the areas of cost reduction, discard reduction, annual productivity improvements, inventory turnover, regulatory excellence including exception reduction and internal/external regulatory commitment management, on time delivery and lead time reduction, improving the overall safety of the work environment, leadership development and the ability to create a vibrant continuous improvement culture based on the principles of QLP, Lean Manufacturing, total employee involvement and DMAIC problem solving
  • Fluent in the use of Trackwise 8, Maximo, POMS and JDE software.  Experience in the use of problem solving tools/methods (Examples: A3, Cause Maps).
  • Develop operation strategy

  • Lead production development efforts
  • Regularly interacts with senior management or executive levels on matters concerning several functional areas, divisions, and/or customers.
  • Learn, understand and apply rigorous quality standards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), and ISO 13485 Requirements.
  • Job demanding circumstances
  • Normal (stressful at times) and travel is required.

Job Requirements (Education, Experience and Qualifications):

  • Ability to interpret and analyze statistical data and information and financial reports, understand and resolve technical difficulties, interface with internal engineering/technical experts and external technical representatives, manage multiple priorities in a manufacturing plant setting, be resourceful to a large manufacturing department.
  • Knowledge of World Class manufacturing methods (QLP, Lean, Six Sigma), Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Drug and Administration guidelines and process validation
  • Must have basic English written and oral communication skills adequate to communicate with other team members.

Educational Requirements:

  • BS degree required.  BS degree in science or technical discipline preferred. 
  • 6 or more years of progressive experience in manufacturing.

Physical / Safety Requirements

  • Duties may require overtime work, including nights and weekends
  • Use of hands and fingers to manipulate office equipment is required
  • Position requires standing and walking for extended periods of time 
  • Must meet visual acuity requirements as documented in Baxter Cleveland’s Standard Operating Procedures
