EXEMPT: No DEPARTMENT: Special Products
SUMMARY: Conducts all duties relating to loading and unloading Retorts and moving baskets of product as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned
- Ensures Good Manufacturing Practices are followed at all times.
- Loads baskets of product into Retorts for processing; Unloads baskets of product from Retort after processing.
- Uses carts to move empty or full baskets of product; ensures product is staged appropriately.
- Follows instructions and performs all assignments in a safe and sustainable manner. Uses all equipment provided to ensure safe body mechanics while performing the above operations.
- Reports to Supervisor any issues with materials, products or machinery.
- Ensures area is clean and organized.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school education or GED preferred; no prior manufacturing or food preparation experience is required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Have the ability to read in English or Spanish a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of letters and numbers.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to count up to 4 digits.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Have the ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
