Scope of Job: This position is responsible for compiling and analysing financial information relating to trends and costs of manufacturing activities for the Site. This includes the evaluation of manufacturing standard cost variances, product profitability, and other cost initiatives. Lead the development of annual standard costs and manufacturing budgets including materials, labor, and overhead rates. Partner with accounting team on monthly close, helping to drive consistency, timeliness, completeness, and accuracy. Provide financial support and training to the BNA Plant Managers and Operations Team, as well as periodic reporting to drive factory cost reductions and accountability to responsible department managers.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for daily, weekly, and monthly reporting of operational metrics. Manage, streamline, and standardize the reporting for these operational metrics.
- Take ownership of budget process for standard costs, standard costs roll, new item costs, evaluation, and ongoing reporting against appropriate metrics.
- Review standard and actual costs for inaccuracies; report on variances and their causes.
- Assist in month-end closing, prepare journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations, ensuring their accuracy evidenced by sufficient supporting documentation.
- Prepare inventory and cost accounting entries and account reconciliations.
- Support both the Finance and Operations organization through the accurate recording, monitoring, reporting and analysis of operational results. Assist in the development and implementation of corporate policies and procedures affecting plant financial operations.
- Provide recommendations for process improvements and assist in implementation of changes to improve the quality of financial information.
- Partner with Plant Management to identify, implement, and report plant results and operational efficiencies. Serve as financial co-pilot for plant management.
- Partner with Operations / Supply Chain to identify inventory at-risk of obsolescence and potential excess; and assist in disposal of obsolete inventory as needed. Make related entries in accordance with company policies.
- Conduct thorough financial analyses to assess the impact of continuous improvement initiatives on operations costs and overall financial performance.
- Drive cross functional behaviour to meet planned cost expenditures.
- Significant interaction with Production team. You must be willing and interested to walk the factory floor regularly to understand the production process.
- Assist in ad hoc requests for analysis and participate in projects with cross functional teams.
- Collaborate with production and supporting departments to ensure the food safety and quality of our products.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required. CPA is a plus.
Experience: 5-7 years of experience in manufacturing accounting, including cost accounting and general accounting, preferably in the food manufacturing industry.
