Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Department Manager to lead and oversee our payroll operations, serving multiple clients with diverse needs. The role involves managing the department while executing all payroll-related tasks. Each client’s payroll is customized to their specific requirements, ranging from an owner draw to managing payroll for up to 65 employees with full benefits. The majority of payroll processing is handled at the Ascension Accounting office, and collaboration with other bookkeepers within the company is essential for ensuring seamless operations.

Ideally, you will bring experience in full-cycle bookkeeping and be proficient in QuickBooks.

Essential Skill Sets
- Experience with QuickBooks Desktop Payroll. Experience with Accounting CS a major plus
- Ability to set up a new payroll from scratch or inherit a messy payroll and clean it up
- Fundamental understanding of the function of a Payroll Journal Entry and the ability to create Client specific entries as well as enter them into QuickBooks software
- Experience with paying Payroll Taxes on the Client specific IRS depository schedule
- Experience filing Quarterlies and all Payroll Year End Annual Reporting
- Possess strong expertise in State Payroll Tax Law
- Experience responding to Garnishment letters and setting up Garnishments
- Experience with Oregon Saves and 401k deductions and contributions
- Experience with S-Corp medical premiums, reporting new hires and child support
- Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe PDF Proficiency
- If you have additional bookkeeping skills, you will be given priority for the position as long as you meet all other requirements
- If you speak Spanish, you will edge out another candidate as long as you meet all other requirements
Schedule and Compensation
- 35-40 hours a week (some flexibility in schedule available)
- Some onsite Client location work may be required
- Full benefit package available (package determined on hours worked)
- One day a week working remote be possible with successful 6 months employment
- $30/hr starting pay with possible 90 day increase based on performance
