Bay Transit is seeking a full-time Fleet Manager. They are responsible for all aspects of the procurement, acquisition, maintenance, and repair of all Bay Transit and Bay Aging vehicles. Reports to the Transit Director. Location: Gloucester and/or Warsaw Transit Facilities.

Essential functions
Supervise all maintenance staff. Prioritize and ensure that all vehicles are properly maintained as outlined in the Bay Transit Maintenance Policy, the manufacturer’s suggested maintenance schedule and in accordance with federal and state regulations. Perform, supervise, or coordinate routine maintenance and repairs. Oversee data collection, vehicle files, work orders, and invoices. Ensure that operational and safety procedures are always followed. Purchase and inventory all mechanical parts and maintenance supplies. Follow federal and state regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, FTA, DRPT, etc.) guidelines for capital planning, safety, and environmental practices. Maintain workspaces in a safe, clean, orderly manner. Act as a liaison between state fleet management, local state approved services, repair stations, and Bay Aging. Ensure that all license plates and state inspections are kept current. Utilize fleet maintenance software to manage vehicle maintenance and repairs. Coordinate the lettering and signage for all agency vehicles. Oversee advertising contracts on all buses. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Working knowledge of:
- ASE certifications and at least 5 years’ experience in heavy equipment, mobile equipment, and vehicle mechanics
- Mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills.
- Specialized vehicle repair equipment
- Two-way radios
- Fleet management software e.g. Mitchell System, eVa
- Microsoft Office programs (e.g. word processing, spreadsheet, e-mail)
- Vehicle Maintenance Management Compliance Certification
Ability to:
- Physically bend, stoop, or stand for extended periods of time and lift at least 100 pounds.
- Possess a Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License.
- Handle multiple tasks and prioritize needs.
- Complete repairs timely, efficiently, and economically.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.
- Communicate effectively with customers and coworkers.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Garage-based position with considerable physical requirements (ability to lift 100 lbs.), standing, stooping, or bending for extended periods). Some of the essential functions of the position can be performed virtually (25%).
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent is required. ASE certification or equivalent. The applicant must possess a valid Virginia Commercial Driver’s License.
FLSA status: This is an exempt position.

Salary : $80,000 - $95,000
