JOB TITLE: Student Success Coordinator, Early Middle College - CONTRACTED

DEPARTMENT: Post-Secondary Education

REPORTS TO: EMC Coordinator/Director, Career & Technical Education

This is a part-time position, 20 hours per week.

SUMMARY

The Student Success Coordinator (SSC) assists students in establishing an informed Career Pathway Plan while identifying barriers and closely monitoring students’ academic progress. This plan will equip Early Middle College participants with the resources to overcome identified barriers. The SSC monitors academic progress by working closely with students and staff and offers resources/interventions that will enhance achievement. The SSC also supports ongoing student/program assessment and partners with outside agencies for support.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develop Career Pathways and Educational Development Plans (EDPs) with students.
  • Identify participant barriers and provide them with resources and support.
  • Coordinate student intervention strategies with staff.
  • Assist with the coordination of college visits and employability skill training.
  • Assist with planning and organizing a college and FAFSA event for students.
  • Assist with managing new enrollment orientations and registrations.
  • Coordinate tutoring efforts with students who may need additional assistance.
  • Meet with students outside of the school setting, if needed.
  • Track student work-based learning and volunteer hours.
  • Ensure students stay on track with Career and College Readiness lessons/activities.
  • Collaborate with students to support progress and completion of Early Middle College credentials.
  • Be present in buildings with regular and continued attendance and punctuality.
  • Follow all Board Policies, Staff Handbook, and Administrative Guidelines.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Possession of or pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work or other human services related field, preferred; and at least three years of experience in a related field and experience working with non-traditional student populations, preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid driver’s license required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear and operate a computer. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, such as filing boxes. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and depth perception.
