Summary:
The Bay Education Foundation (“Foundation”) is a 501(c)3 not for profit organization located in Bay County, Florida whose mission is to support the educational development of the community’s students by providing enhanced opportunities for a quality education and promoting greater community involvement in education. The Foundation is a direct support organization for Bay District Schools and has supported education in Bay County for over 30 years by providing resources to both students and teachers.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Director to join our team. As the Executive Director, you will play a vital role in overseeing the strategic planning, development, and implementation of the organization’s programs and initiatives. The Executive Director will work closely with the Board of Directors to raise funds and with Bay District School leaders to develop and implement beneficial programs to ensure the overall success and sustainability of the organization.
Experience managing a nonprofit organization and fundraising is essential, and established relationships with the local community are a plus. The ideal Executive Director is a highly effective leader with strong communication skills and is motivated to be a community leader.
Objectives of this role:
- Oversee daily operations of the organization, providing executive direction for program strategies and efficiencies, compliance, and quality assurance.
- Work closely with board directors and committees to assess and address issues affecting the organization.
- Establish and maintain relationships with Bay District Schools and the Superintendent acting as a liaison between Bay District Schools and Bay Education Foundation.
- Identify and address staffing requirements for efficient operations and maintain a strong work culture that attracts and retains people while driving the organization’s mission.
- Increase awareness of the organization through intentional outreach to stakeholders and by being the main spokesperson and liaison with local media and community groups.
- Maintain responsibility for the Foundation’s budget and cash flow.
- Develop an actionable plan for key fundraising activities.
- Comply with all federal, state and local laws and regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Manage operations and employees; day-to-day activities are the responsibility of the Executive Director, such as supervising the hiring, firing, and evaluation of all staff and directing staff in the assignment and performance duties.
- Develop business and strategic plans for achieving goals and objectives set in collaboration with the board of directors.
- Meet aggressive annual fundraising goals, in partnership with the board of directors, by securing financial support from foundations, corporations, individual donors, and government funding sources.
- Work with staff and board on planning and implementing all fundraising activities.
- Oversee all external communications, including website, marketing collateral, newsletters, and social media.
- Develop strategic community partnerships and serve as the face of the organization through professional and effective external communications to enhance the Foundation’s brand and increase awareness, visibility, and credibility.
- Build and lead a team that is dedicated to fulfilling the organization’s mission through successful programs, community engagement, and fundraising.
- Organize and lead monthly Board and Executive Committee meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required skills and qualifications:
- Five or more years of experience in senior management, preferably with nonprofit organizations.
- Strong experience in public relations, marketing, and fundraising.
- Knowledge of leadership and management principles for nonprofit organizations.
- Proven success working with a board of directors.
- Entrepreneurial mindset, with innovative approach to business planning.
- Dynamic and charismatic team player who enjoys being the public face of an organization.
Preferred skills and qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Experience in managing budgets.
