Risk Management Assistant

About the Role:

The Risk Management Department conducts research, works independently, and exercises judgment in order to provide evaluation and analysis of key Credit Union performance measures, as required in the audit plan. The Risk Management Assistant supports the VP Risk Management in planning and performing audit functions with regards to the annual audit plan, periodic monitoring of internal controls and other investigations and research as assigned.

Scheduled Weekly Hours:

This is a full time position working 40 hours per week; Monday – Friday.

What you’ll be doing:

• Promote and maintain a positive image of Bay Federal at all times to all personnel, members, volunteers, vendors and the community.
• Work closely with the VP Risk Management to continually monitor and audit compliance with internal Credit Union policies and procedures ensuring consistent and continual adherence to state and federal laws, NCUA regulations, and members’ expectations of safety and soundness.
• Assist the AVP Internal Audit in completing the approved annual audit plan which tests and measures weaknesses in and compliance with the Credit Union’s system of internal controls, internal policies and procedures, and state and federal laws and regulations.
• Assist the VP Risk Management in preparation for the monthly Supervisory Committee meetings.
• Perform periodic monitoring of employee accounts, loan and deposit transactions, non-monetary transactions and other sensitive data. Analyze and investigate suspicious or unusual transactions and report findings to the BSA Compliance Officer
• Participate in risk assessments of Credit Union operations and practices to set audit priorities and identify areas of potential high risk.
• Participate in investigations, including fraud investigations, as assigned.
• Communicate the importance of adherence to internal controls to employees. Participate in training employees in classes such as ethics, fraud, compliance and whistleblower policies.
• Review and recommend changes to improve internal controls outlined in Credit Union policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as required by the VP Risk Management, AVP of Internal Audit, or BSA Compliance Officer.

You’re Perfect For This Role If You Have:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• AA degree desirable or 2 to 4 years’ experience in business environment.
  • Extensive knowledge and skills in Excel and Word Experience with Compliance or Audit a plus
• Power Point experience - comfortable creating a deck

Bay Federal Credit Union is proud to offer a competitive, robust compensation and benefits package. Bay Federal considers many factors in determining base pay such as experience, education/training, internal peer equity, job location, and other business considerations when extending an offer. For Santa Cruz, CA only, the pay scale Bay Federal reasonably expects to pay for this position is $25.82 - $32.27 per hour. Salaries are based on the geographic location in which you live if working remotely.

Paid time off is accrued per paycheck for eligible employees at a rate based on your tenure. Leaves of absences are available in adherence with state and federal regulations.
