JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Custodian I/II
HOURS: Evening shift starting at 2pm
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Experience: 0-3 years experience (Custodian I); 3 years experience (Custodian II)
- General knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment
- Effective communication skills with a variety of people
- Desire to continue career improvement
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-Time (unless otherwise stated); 12 month (256 day contract); 90 day probationary period; successful completion of State and Federal Background check is required.
REPORTS TO: Administrative Assistant/Assistant Principal
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Custodian I/II is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe learning and working environment for students and staff. The duties of the Custodian I/II are completed under general supervision and may vary throughout each shift.
JOB DUTIES:
- Sweeps, scrubs, mops, strips, and waxes floors throughout each building.
- Operates different types of equipment including, but not limited to scrubbers, buffers, vacuums, etc.
- Cleans, sanitizes, and restocks restrooms.
- Cleans classrooms, offices, lobbies, and other common areas (including high/low dusting of blinds, ledges, air vents, light fixtures, etc.) on routine basis.
- Empties trash and recycling bins throughout each building.
- Cleans dry erase boards as needed.
- Arranges furniture and equipment and assists with event setup as needed.
- May be asked to work inside or outside in varying climate conditions.
- Reports signs of damage, vandalism, or any unsafe condition to appropriate staff/leaders.
- All other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee may exert up to 50 pounds of force frequently and up to 100 pounds of force on occasion. The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds and to perform a 2-person lift over 50 pounds. Bending, kneeling, climbing, crawling, reaching or other physical exertion may be required at times.
