REPORTS TO: Superintendent - Director
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Practical Nursing Director is responsible for providing visionary leadership and effective management of faculty, students, and staff to promote the program’s goals and objectives. This role involves teaching excellence, curriculum development, and supporting faculty in their instructional roles. The director is tasked with leading program changes, ensuring stability, and achieving key objectives. A strong commitment to the program’s mission, values, and strategic alignment with institutional priorities is essential.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:
Provides leadership and oversees the daily operations, policies, and procedures of the nursing program, including curriculum development, faculty supervision, and student outcomes.
Ensures that the program meets nursing education standards & procedures and maintains all necessary documentation for periodic reviews and site visits.
Ensures that the program meets accreditation standards and maintains all necessary documentation for periodic reviews and site visits.
Manages the program’s budget, allocating resources for faculty development, student success, and program enhancement.
Recruits and recommends faculty and support staff appointments.
Supervises, mentors, and evaluates faculty and support staff.
Coordinates professional development for faculty and maintains personal professional growth to stay current in nursing education.
Handles discipline and complaints affecting the Practical Nursing Program and invokes appropriate disciplinary action consistent with school district policy.
Ensures that students are supported through their academic journey, managing student affairs, and fostering a positive learning environment.
Collaborates with librarians to ensure access to updated nursing references, media, and periodicals for the Practical Nursing Students.
Cultivates relationships with healthcare providers, accrediting bodies, alumni, and other key stakeholders.
Assists in creating marketing and informational materials to attract prospective students.
Establishes and maintains clinical affiliations, including developing agreements with clinical faculty and staff.
Supports students in completing NCLECX-PN applications and facilitates job placements.
Develops articulation agreements with nursing schools and community colleges to promote student advancement.
Serves as Chair to the Practical Nursing Academy Department meetings, ensuring effective communication and decision-making.
Serves as a member of the Admissions Committee and participates in the selection of students by testing and interviewing potential students.
Organizes and leads Advisory Committee Meetings.
Assists in the preparation of the Practical Nursing graduation ceremony.
Performs any other duties as assigned by the Superintendent and/or their designee.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Leadership and Management Skills: Ability to lead teams, make decisions, and manage resources effectively.
Academic and Clinical Expertise: Strong clinical background and knowledge of nursing education.
Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups, including students, faculty, healthcare professionals, and administrators.
Strategic Thinking: Ability to plan long-term and anticipate challenges in the healthcare and education landscapes.
Understanding of Accreditation Standards: Familiarity with the accreditation processes and regulatory bodies for nursing programs.
Cultural Competency: Ability to work with a diverse student body and faculty in an inclusive, respectful manner.
Change Management: Ability to manage and navigate change in the educational and healthcare environment.
Must be in compliance with Board of Registration in Nursing Regulation 244 CMR 6.04 (2)(a).
Must be authorized to work in the United States.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Massachusetts Registered Nursing License required.
Master’s degree in Nursing or an earned entry-level Doctorate in Nursing required.
Minimum five (5) years full-time nursing experience, or equivalent, within the last eight (8) years required.
Minimum three (3) years experience in nursing education required.
Administrative and/or supervisory experience in a school setting preferred.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Practical Nursing Academy Director manages and oversees all Practical Nursing staff and instructors at Bay Path.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This is a 12 month position.
This an at-will position, with salary and benefits aligned with those offered under similar employment policies.
SALARY: Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
