Job Description Summary
The primary responsibility of this position is to prepare, manage and provide oversight of the financial and accounting statements for Baycare Health Partners (BHP) and its two subsidiaries Pioneer Valley Accountable Care LLC, (PVAC) and Baystate Health Care Alliance, Inc. (BHCA).
Baycare’s financial information is regularly presented (monthly, quarterly and annually) to senior leadership and the respective Baycare Boards and Committees. Linked to this responsibility is the preparation of Baycare's annual audited financial statements. The consolidated Baycare financial statements includes activities related to 3 separate corporations. This position is the key point person for managing the annual audit process and the issuance of the consolidated financial statements with accompanying footnotes working closely with Baycare’s external and independent auditing firm.
The monthly financial and reporting process includes oversight and review of activity of the accounts payable and accounts receivable general. In addition to the above, this position is also directly responsible for the accurate reporting and reconciliation of activity between the 3 Baycare entities and several of the Baystate Health entities and managing the cash and investment balances of each corporation deposited with regional financial institutions.
A key requirement of this position is to complete periodically cash flow analysis which outlines cash forecasting and funding requirements so senior leadership can make critical and informed decisions surrounding strategic planning and possible financing needs.
The incumbent is also required to prepare and manage Baycare’s budgeting process for all 3 entities. The budgeting process requires detailed worksheets for expected revenues and expenses (salary and non-salary) for approximately 70 FTE’s serving in various functional areas.
Job Requirements
· Responsible for the timely, accurate and efficient preparation and presentation of financial statements for Baycare Health Partners, Inc.and its consolidated entities as well as the GSIPA.
· Provides the primary impetus and key financial support to the annual operating budget and projection process for Baycare Health Partners including all of its consolidated entities. This includes budget planning and updating projected results, and the timely assembly of the financial materials for presentation to senior management and related Boards and Committees.
· Responsible for the preparation, coordination, management of the annual audited financial statements and accompanying footnotes. Assists and manages year-end audit work and with preparation of federal and state tax filing as needed with external auditors.
· Periodic cash flow and funding requirements analysis and projections as well as reconciliation of revenues and expenses with variance analysis to identify key drivers.
· Responsible for all invoicing, accounts receivable, and banking activities.
· Provides advice to BHP management regarding compliance to general accepted accounting principles (GAAP) reporting and internal financial management control requirements, government surveys and tax filings/returns.
· Assists management in the decision-making process by preparing budgets and financial forecasts.
· Responsible for tax forecasting and assists auditing firm with the preparation of the federal and state tax returns.
· Advises on the procedures and financial management as well as developing policies.
· Complies with all company, local, state, and federal accounting and financial regulations.
· As appropriate, participates and or leads department/organizational projects.
· Provides backup payroll support.
· All other responsibilities as identified by management.
Skills/Competencies: Working knowledge of GAAP is required in conjunction with a mastery of Microsoft office (specifically excel and PowerPoint) and NetSuite. The ability to understand the details, and proactively anticipate financial and accounting issues. Strong oral and written skills are also essential to this position.
Qualifications
Minimally Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree
Preferred Education: CPA or Masters Degree
Minimally Required Experience: Eight to ten years of related accounting experience
Preferred Experience: Healthcare or PHO/ACO accounting experience and/or public accounting.
