Location: St Joseph's Main and Children's
Status: Full Time, Exempt: No
Shift Hours: 6:00 PM - 6:30 AM
Weekend Work: Every Other
On Call: No
Responsibilities - Lab Support Staff Coord:
- Responsible for coordinating the daily operations.
- Prioritize and delegate the technical and administrative functions of the assigned section.
- Develop staffing plan, monitors time and attendance and performs payroll functions.
- Act as a preceptor for new hires and facilitate department in-services.
- Monitor and maintain adequate supply levels. Participate in regulatory surveys, coordinates the collecting, receiving and processing of inpatient and outpatient specimens for testing.
- Communications with nursing regarding patient specimens, referring specimens to outside laboratories, interaction with physicians, clients and staff regarding referral lab tests, performance of phlebotomy procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Credentials:
- Required Certification - Phlebotomy within 1 year of hire (ASCP, ASPT or AMT)
- Or, BayCare Client Service classes (3 approved CBTs and 1 approved class) within 1 year of hire.
- BayCare Client Services classes in lieu of Phlebotomy certification is only acceptable for Positions with no possibility or expectation of performing phlebotomy.
Education:
- HS Graduate or Equivalent GED
Experience:
- Essential: Clinical Related
- Nonessential: Phlebotomy
