What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Highway Assistant position at Bayfield County?
Assist on a variety of projects involving seasonal highway maintenance. Typical work schedule is M-Th 6am-4pm. June-AugustA. Light equipment operation, roadway maintenance
B. Must work along with personnel and alone if necessary during various times
C. Assist Highway employees
D. Crack sealing and rut paving
E. Assist with traffic control.
F. Other duties as may be assigned.
G. Assist in maintaining the general cleanliness and maintenance of highway department buildings and grounds.
H. May serve as flag person on roadway construction projects.• Must hold and maintain a valid Wisconsin Driver's License.
• High School Diploma or GED
Physical Requirements:
Be physically capable of lifting 50 pounds
Ability to get in and out of vehicle, operate various equipment.
Ability to work outdoors in sun and inclement weather for long periods of time.A. Knowledge and ability to operate pickup trucks
B. Knowledge and ability to use hand tools and light equipment such as lawnmowers, trimmers, shovels, etc..
C. Knowledgeable of highway operations
D. Ability to fill out time reporting sheet
E. Ability to work cooperatively with others.
F. Knowledgeable of safety equipment and procedures when working around heavy equipment and with hand tools.
