Shift: As Needed / Variable
SALARY RANGE: 20.04 - 29.79HOURLY
General Summary:
Under direct supervision, the Desktop Support Technician provides basic technical support of desktop computers, telephones, peripherals, applications, and related technology. The Desktop Support Technician will be responsible for device installations and dispositions, following established departmental procedures. More complex or advanced support needs may be referred to a Desktop Support Analyst I or II.
Responsibilities:
1. Installs, configures, and ensures ongoing usability of desktop computers, telephones, peripheral equipment and software within established standards and guidelines a. Includes specification, installation, testing and troubleshooting of computer systems and peripherals
2. Demonstrates excellent customer service and interpersonal skills by utilizing a courteous, timely, and professional approach in dealing with clients and co-workers. a. Follows up with clients on unresolved problems b. Practices reflective listening skills. c. Presents ideas and instructions clearly
3. Works with the Asset Analyst to ensure computer assets are properly handled according to established device disposition procedures.
4. All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities
Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED
College course work in IT
- Credential(s): Helpful, but not required.
Preferred Education, Credential(s) and Experience:
- Education: Associate Degree in IT major
- Credential(s): IT related certification Experience: Prior customer service experience including IT computer troubleshooting experience.
